March Goals: Planning

You know, for February being the shortest month of the year, it felt the complete opposite. It might be because this month was packed with one thing after the other -- in a good way! I marked off so many things on my long-term to do list. However, I can't say I did to well with my overall goal.

This last month, I wanted to try and cut down on certain services I paid for that I don't actually use. Well, let's just say that didn't pan out as I'd hoped and I actually realized I needed those things for security. So, it was best to keep them because I knew that once I went without them, I would definitely need to have it again. (i.e.: mobile data plan shared with my brother, internet data, etc.)

Instead of dwelling on the fact that I failed at my one goal this month ("YOU HAD ONE JOB, SHAYNE!!" I can hear you now.) I'm going to focus on the month ahead of us. March will be full with little practical goals, mostly centered on planning summer and a few housekeeping items.

March 2015 Goals

I know that in the beginning of the year, I said that I would focus all of my goals on going minimal. Well, sometimes we get hit with things that shift our focus, like this trip to China I'm planning. So, I'm taking a break from building my minimal life until I get everything squared away. This month, I'm focusing on China.

Complete required Beijing university documents
Although I have expressed great interest and put in an application as soon as I heard about spending part of the summer in China, I still haven't submitted my admission application to the school in Beijing. I've been procrastinating, partly because the application is quite long and tedious, but I know I shouldn't let that get in the way. I'll finish the application ASAP and submit it, hopefully as soon as this post goes live.

Take an updated "mugshot" for Chinese visa
The admission application requires a recent photo, the same photo that will be submitted with my Chinese visa application. I've only taken a visa-type photo on two occasions in my like. Once when I was issued a green card at four-years-old and the last time was when I got my certification of citizenship when I was fifteen. Does anyone know where I can get one of these photos taken? Does Walgreens or some other shop take passport/visa photos?

Meet with Confucius Institute students and faculty
I think it's time to get acquainted with people I'll be spending quite a bit of time with overseas. I have some friends who attended the program abroad a couple years ago, but they've since stopped taking Chinese language and cultural classes. That just means it's time to learn about the other students taking on this opportunity! I'll be setting aside time to hang out at the Confucius hall of our university to get fully immersed in the program.

It's March! You know what that means? After this month a quarter of the year is up.
Are your goals still the same as earlier in the year?
What are you working on this month?
