April Goals

I'm a little late to post my goals this month. March seemed to have flown right past me. I kept busy mostly with school. Overall, March was a good month for me. I passed all of my midterms, not with flying colors but I passed nonetheless! I also took care of a few housekeeping items on my to-do list. I also did fairly well with the goals I had set in the beginning of March. I completed all of my applications for China, spent more time with my Chinese instructors at my university's Confucius Institute, and even learned the anthem for the 2008 Beijing Olympics!

If you couldn't tell, just like my March Goals, my only real focus in school this past month was my Chinese class. I had gotten off track just a bit (I'm blaming Lunar New Year and ALL THE DUMPLINGS) and relied heavily on using Pinyin to read for a few weeks. I'm back at reading and writing characters now, and I'm so glad that I am. I don't know how anyone goes by with reading just Pinyin. Chinese characters are easier than they seem, because once you understand the radicals and how these are used for more than just one term, you're pretty much good. (Okay, maybe as I wrote this I realized that's easier said that done.) I digress.

Oh yeah, and I took a "mugshot" for my visa! I'll fill that out once I receive the official acceptance letter from the university I'll be at in July. I look sooo neutral and delighted, don't you think? I added the black and white filter for drama. Ha!

April 2015 Goals

My only goal this month isn't something for me. I'm going to shift my goals' focus this month to my son! He was recently accepted into a Japanese Immersion program for kindergarten, which he'll be attending this fall. It's kind of a bummer that there weren't enough seats in Chinese (Mandarin) Immersion at a different school, but I'm glad he was at least accepted into Japanese Immersion. The school he'll be attending is closer to my parents' house, so it'll make life a heck of a lot easier once fall comes around.

If there's one thing I can tell you about kindergarten applications and the whole process with it, I'd say it's absolutely exhausting and super, super, super long. I don't think I've had to fill out this many forms ever, not even for college! Still, I'm just so excited for him to finally use his talent for acquiring languages. He has been listening and learning 4 dialects of Filipino, Mandarin, some Japanese and Korean throughout his little life. I think I'm raising a future omniglot, to be honest. And, not to toot my own horn, he gets it from his Mama. :) hahaha

Anyways, I'm hoping to get everything squared away for him, and we're also going to be doing a kindergarten round-up at his new school so that should be quite fun!

What do you have going on this month?
