My Color Palette + Everlane

Can you believe the last time I gave you guys an update on this whole going minimal project was in February? I really need to get a handle on these blog series that I start and never really finish. At any rate, I figured I'd talk about defining a color palette, or at least show you what mine is.

When I purged my closet a couple months ago, I let go of a lot of pieces that I just never wore. A lot of the clothes I got rid of were colors that I just found a little too "loud" or just not really representative of me. The clothes either clashed too much with the other colors I wore, or they were just too girly and bubbly for my taste. So, I cut down my closet again and stuck with the colors I actually wear.

My Colors

I'm not one to wear colors that are too vibrant or out there. I don't wear bright colors unless they have a "gray-ish" or washed-out feel to them. I've just always felt like bright colors seem to pass as much as trends fade, and I'm not into that. So, I present to you my color palette filled with grays and a balance of warm to cool tones.

It's very common to see me wear these colors. My closet is filled with pieces in these hues, tints, tones, and shades. The palette also allows for me to wear gold accents easily, as that's usually what I prefer for accessories.

A color palette might not be for everyone, but when you are as meticulous a person as I am, it really works. I don't have to deal with figuring out what I can put with what and which shirt goes with which pair of pants, what shoes I have to wear with this color dress. It all sort of falls into place and it's a lot less time consuming to put together a look, and you all know I have soooo much time.

Enter Everlane*

If you follow me on Twitter, it's no secret to you just how much I love this brand and the entire culture it embodies. On top of that, picking pieces within my color palette has been so easy! The practice behind Everlane seems so trivial, so simple. It makes one wonder why it hasn't come to light sooner.

Everlane's brand identity centers on being transparent, telling the consumer exactly how their products came about. With Everlane, you can trust where your products come from. Everlane is even straightforward with the costs of their clothing, shoes, and accessories – providing a "Transparent Pricing" infographic for every product description that outlines the true costs of making each piece.

When I started my journey to going minimal, I honed in on my closet first. I realized that I would eventually have to build a capsule wardrobe that met my needs. I scoured shops looking for the simplicity I like. I looked everywhere from Asos, Madewell, Topshop, to Uniqlo. Even though I love all the shops all the same, I haven't found a brand with quite the same culture and transparency as Everlane.
